up with the blockbusters at the local multiplex? Do you long for something a little more personal, a more romantic version of the cinema experience? A return to the golden days of classic movies and traditional service sounds like the perfect antidote to the faceless popcorn rip-off merchants masquerading as cinemas, which is why we’re very excited about The Other Cinema.

For a short period between 14th-18th February, they will be taking over the Troxy on Commercial Road transforming it into an old-school Picture Palace with an organist, usherettes and live music bringing back the glory days. The film shown will be David Lean’s classic Brief Encounter, one of the most beautiful and romantic films of all time to tie in perfectly with valentine’s day.

The Other Cinema will screen one classic movie every month with a network of screening partners all over the UK. Tickets are priced at £20 (£15 for concessions) and available here.
