We’re big fans of Lyon’s Seafood & Wine Bar in Crouch End so we’re excited that founder Anthony Lyon is teaming up with sommelier Kelvin McCabe to open Hackney Coterie this July. The wine bar, bottleshop, deli and warehouse brasserie will serve a regularly-changing menu of seasonal and zero-waste driven dishes like salmon tartare with jasmine pickled cucumber & aged soy, cured pork belly with kisaichi pickled watermelon & smoked tofu, kombucha glazed pumpkin with Blackwoods Graceburn & freekeh, and burnt apple filo tart with hazelnut & koji crumble, with Dominic Auger (ex-HIDE and Scully) heading up the kitchen.
Wine-wise, Hackney Coterie will be focusing on bottles from small-scale vineyards, with over 100 on offer, and unusually for this part of town, they won’t be showcasing exclusively natural wines. And there’ll be a big wine cabinet wall inside the space where you can buy bottles to take home.
