Bastardo is promising “mighty fine snacks + wine”
Italian restaurant Lardo in London Fields has been a popular neighbourhood spot for well over a decade, and now the team is expanding by opening a wine bar right next door – because there can never be too many wine bars in Hackney. Called Bastardo, the bar will pour low-intervention wines, with a changing selection of around 70 bottles from across Europe, 20 of which will be available by the glass.
That’s the wine part, now what about the snacks? The food will be Italian (obvs) and include nibbles like smoked almonds and olives; small plates like stracciatella with anchovies on toast and pizza fritti; and ‘trough plates’ of pasta to share between two to six people.
So if you’ve got a dinner at Lardo coming up and you want somewhere for a drink beforehand, or you’re looking for a new local bar, Bastardo will hit the spot.
