The new restaurant will take the place of Smokey Kudu, which has relocated to West London
After starting out with one restaurant in Peckham in 2018, Amy Corbin and Patrick Williams have turned Kudu into a mini South London empire. As well as the OG South African-inspired spot on Queens Road, the pair opened cocktail bar Smokey Kudu and art gallery and private dining space Curious Kudu (both on the same street), and the braai-focused Kudu Grill over in Nunhead. And now the fam is growing once again, with the arrival of Little Kudu.
The new restaurant will actually be taking over the space that was formerly home to Smokey Kudu, turning it from a cocktail bar into a modern South African-tapas joint. Fans of Smokey Kudu don’t have to worry though as the bar hasn’t closed, it’s just relocated from Peckham to Chelsea, pitching up inside the new flagship RIXO store on the Kings Road.
Little Kudu is going to look pretty stunning, with a fully mirrored back wall, a 2-metre-long vintage Murano chandelier, a six-seater bar with glazed tiles and a polished terrazzo communal table. And the food sounds just as good, with the menu set to include:
- Little Kudu loaf with Cape Malay buttter
- smoked peri-peri mussels
- chicken liver parfait tartlet with spiced pineapple & calendula
- Braaibroodjie (a South African grilled cheese sandwich) with smoked tomato chutney
- ham hock terrine with biltong scratchings
- grilled mango with kombucha & yoghurt sorbet
- Don Pedro & Milo mousse
The concise wine list will feature mainly South African bottles and some signature Kudu cocktails, like the whisky & bourbon Smokey Kudu and the chilli tequila Saffa-rita, will also be available. That’s one cool little sis on the way.
