the jellied eel to pop-up in walthamstow
Walthamstow locals Paul Jellis and Charlie Westover are popping up with the UK’s first cocktail and croquetas bar this winter inside the Grade-II listed L Manze pie and mash shop in Walthamstow. The Jellied Eel will be serving up seasonal cocktails, like a Mulled Wine New York Sour, a sharing size Filthy Martini and a Clementine Gimlet, and gourmet croquetas.
The croquetas, handmade by Javier Garcia and Juan Piñas especially for the pop-up, will mix British and Spanish flavours with varieties including jamon iberico, British spinach and wild garlic, and in a nod to their location, smoked eel and horseradish. The Jellied Eel will only be running on Friday and Saturday nights until Christmas, with the shop doing its regular pie and mash business in between, but here’s hoping it goes so well that they make it permanent.
