THE IVY ASIA TO OPEN IN ST PAUL’S

Jamie Oliver’s Barbecoa is out and the Ivy is moving in, bringing a version of its Manchester concept Ivy Asia to the site overlooking St Paul’s Cathedral. As it’s an Ivy restaurant, don’t go expecting any minimalism – there’s going to be a pink onyx floor and a pink pagoda on the ground floor; green semi-precious stone, an antique gold mirrored bar, brass tabletops and Asian fabrics in the main restaurant; and a collection of antique 12ft samurai warriors dotted about the place too. Expect that lot to be flooding the ‘gram very soon.

Obviously the menus will be drawing inspiration from Asia, with dishes including yellowtail sashimi with truffle and chilli dressing, Wagyu beef tataki, duck massaman curry, and popcorn shrimp bao, with a bento box offering on at lunchtimes. The same goes for the bar, where cocktails like the Malaysian Margarita ( tequila, aloe vera, lime and coconut cream) and the Beijing Sling (vodka, plum sake, jasmine, vanilla, lime and apple) will sit alongside wine and sake lists.
