Launching this summer, 64 Goodge Street is being billed as an unpretentious French bistro
The latest restaurant from Woodhead Group – who are behind Quality Chop House, Quality Wines, Portland and Clipstone – will open its doors this August. Their fifth venture, 64 Goodge Street will be headed up by chef Stuart Andrew who’ll oversee a menu inspired by his time working in Paris. Expect, as Andrew puts it, “French cooking from an outsider’s perspective”.
The new restaurant intends to convey a very specific vibe, as they wrote in an Instagram post: channelling “a certain type of bistro that lacks pretension and puts the focus on excellent quality food within a relaxed setting”. The menu will feature welcome gougeres, followed by the likes of:
- Lobster vol-au-vent with sauce Americaine
- Snail, bacon and garlic ‘bon bons’
- Morteau sausage, walnut and morbier tourte
- Peach and Beaujolais jelly
- Fig leaf bavarois
While the wine list will include bottles of various origins, Burgundy will be the focus and the 64 Goodge Street team has said that they’ve got some more affordable wines from the notoriously pricey region. Sounds like fans of French food and wine have a lot to look forward to this August.
