the great sausage roll off 2020

The Great Sausage Roll Off is back for 2020 and the competition is fiercer than ever. Taking place at The Red Lion in Barnes the annual event sees 20 chefs from across the UK compete to win the coveted award of best sausage roll. Last year the crown went to Padstow chef Adrian Oliver for his Cornish pork, bacon and sage roll, and this year competitors include Adam Lestrelle from Roehampton Club, Iain Devine from Manchester’s Drunken Butcher, Dav Browning from Theatre Royal Plymouth and Majella O’Connell (advised by Daniel Clifford) as well as entries coming from The Gun in Docklands, Young’s Pubs and Butcombe Brewery.

Deconstructed rolls are banned, as is shop bought pastry and items must be rolled and made on the night – that rules out taking the 99p bag of pre-frozen Iceland treats then. Looks like we won’t be entering. Entrance is free so just go along and roll with it.
