Joe Grossmann is leading the re-launch of The Watermans Arms, and no, it won’t be doing burgers
He’s built a very successful burger empire with Patty & Bun and now founder Joe Grossmann is getting into the pub game by relaunching The Watermans Arms in Barnes, which is where he grew up. The waterside pub is getting a complete revamp and will open with a bar on the ground floor and a dining room upstairs, plus room for outside drinkers along the front of the building.
Sam Andrews (ex-Camberwell Arms and Ducksoup) will be leading the kitchen with Simon Walsh (ex-Anglesea Arms) taking on the general manager role. The bar will serve a simpler menu, featuring dishes like lamb ribs with yoghurt & honey and rouille & mussels sourdough toast, with a larger a la carte offering served in the dining areas across both floors. As well as sharing cuts of meat and whole fish, that menu includes:
- spit-roast chicken with chicken fat polenta
- hake, mussel, tomato & bread stew
- cannelloni with pumpkin & radicchio
- rainbow trout with cicoria & preserved lemon
With a local boy leading the charge and a strong team in place to deliver the food and drink, it sounds like The Watermans Arms is gonna become a proper neighbourhood gem.
