The moving installation is back for 2025
The Ever After Garden, an installation of over 30,000 illuminated roses, is returning to London this winter but in the new location of Duke of York Square in Chelsea. Set up in 2019 by Camilla Morton and Anya Hindmarch after the loss of their friend, production designer and art director Michael Howells, the garden is a space where you can remember people that you’ve lost, make a dedication in tribute to them, and raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Since the garden first opened in 2019, it’s raised over £1.2 million for the charity. It’s free to visit the installation and you can dedicate a rose to someone from £15 (if you can’t visit the garden in person, you can make a dedication online and have a volunteer place it in the garden on your behalf) with all donations going to support the Royal Marsden’s work.
Speaking about the garden, Anya Hindmarch said, “The Ever After Garden was born out of the need to pay tribute to those we have lost during the year. It was an idea originally conceived with Camilla Morton in memory of Michael Howells and is named after the film for which he designed the sets. However this garden should be personal to everyone. For me, it is also in memory of my Aunt Elizabeth Hindmarch.”
“My wish is for this to be a place to reflect at Christmas in amongst all the festive cheer, and in doing so raise money for the incredible institution that is The Royal Marsden.”
