THE ENGINE ROOMS OPENS IN HIGHGATE

First Hexagon Classics dealt in classic cars, then they teamed up with wine expert Bert Blaize to open shop and deli Bottles ‘n’ Jars next to the showroom, and now owner Paul Michaels has added a restaurant. The Engine Rooms, which is currently open for outdoor dining with indoor following in August, is Mediterranean-inspired with James Harrison (ex-Taka Marylebone) heading up the kitchen and Darren Cafferty (ex-Brown’s Hotel) in charge of the puds, with Bert Blaize having curated the wine list.

The menu includes dishes like grey mullet ceviche with confit tomato dressing & cured egg yolk, rainbow chard pizza, Cornish lamb rack with toasted fregola & broad beans, mandilli pasta with wild garlic dressing & salted ricotta, pistachio cream mille-feuille, and apricot frangipane pudding with orange blossom breton & clotted cream. And before you tuck into all of that, there’s some impressive motoring memorabilia in the space for you to check out too.
