THE DRUNKEN BUTLER TEAM IS OPENING A WINE BAR ACROSS THE ROAD

Yuma Hashemi will be exploring his love of wine at the new bar in Clerkenwell

At The Drunken Butler, the modern Persian restaurant in Clerkenwell, wine is a big part of the experience – not only is there an excellent wine and negroni list, Yuma offers blind wine pairing options to encourage discovery and open up conversations about what you’re drinking. This is something he’s diving deeper into with the launch of new wine bar Emmanuelle, which’ll be just across the road from the restaurant.

Named after the ‘Emmanuelle’ rattan chair in the restaurant’s dining room (which appeared in the 1970s erotic film Emmanuelle), and decked out in the same homely living room style, the bar will boast an extensive list of wines from small-scale producers around the world, including natural and biodynamic bottles, new and old world vino, champagnes, and those famous negronis made with vintage spirits from across the road.

Some Persian dishes, like noon-panir-sabzi and aubergine, cucumber & rose with flatbread, will also be making the move across the street, joined by French-style charcuterie and small plates on the daily changing food menu, meaning it’ll be a place that you can pop in for a pre-dinner drink as well as somewhere to make a night of it.

Opens March 2023
