The hamburger stand is setting up shop in Netil Market
The Dom’s Subs crew have nailed sandwiches and expanded into the world of hot dogs (at its new London Fields bar Rasputins), so of course the logical next step is burgers. Jupiter Burger, opening on the old Lucky Chip site in Netil Market, will be a mainly takeaway operation, with a couple of stools for perching at the counter, and will be inspired by California-style burger joints – think In-N-Out vibes.
The burgers – a smashed beef patty or a house-made veggie patty with shaved onion – will be topped with mustard, ketchup, pickles, onion, tomato and lettuce and stuffed into a Martins potato roll – and you’ll be able to get fries, seasonal Jupiter sodas and Five Points JUPA beers on the side.
Speaking about the new opening, Dom’s Subs founder Greg Boyce said, “We’re opening out of pure selfishness on my part (I live around the corner and love burgers but my favourites are a bit of a schlep to get to). I visited Los Angeles for the first time last year and loved that there were fast, easy and great places to grab a high-quality but inexpensive burger in every neighbourhood. Burger culture in that city runs deep and I know that London is having a bit of a smash burger moment but I think there’s just so much more to do in the Burgersphere. When the shack at Netil Market (which was formerly a Lucky Chip site) became available we just had to go for it – it’s a bit space age, a bit googie. If you squint a bit, it looks like it’s been beamed into London Fields from 1960’s LA. It’s perfect! Also, if you think of a hamburger as a type of sandwich, it’s not so far-fetched that we’d move into the burger world”.
We’ve already had French burger brand Junk land in Soho and Bun & Sum bring its LA-style smashburgers to Hackney, so we’re keen to see how Jupiter Burger stacks up.
