The Empress in Victoria Park Village, and are putting the emphasis on being a proper boozer. That’s right it is no gastro pub and has been given a face lift to look the part in trendy Clapton.
Crooked Billet on Upper Clapton Road is ran by the same peeps that own theThe Crooked Billet dished out proper pub grub and is a lot more simple than that of the Empress although Elliot will be overseeing the menu. Think burgers, shepherd’s pie, fish & chips, sausage & mash and big roasts on Sundays. We’re sold already. They will continue to source all their produce from the same suppliers as they use now; Ginger Pig, John Norris for fish, Climpson & sons for coffee, so you’re in safe hands. Out the back you will find a HUGE beer garden which just happens to be a bit of a sun trap, clever that. A seriously good pub!
