Godet is named after the French slang word for ‘glass’
After finding success with Binch in London Fields, owner Sylvain Bertozzi is opening a second, larger bar on Essex Road this October. Like its Hackney sister, the new bar will also be serving fine wine and craft beer, with a list featuring predominantly French and European vino and a rotating craft beer and ale selection from London and the UK across nine taps. As well as tap takeovers and limited-edition pours, the bar will also host tastings and ‘meet the winemaker’ events, so there’ll be plenty for both beer and wine connoisseurs to get stuck into.
The same goes for burger fans as smashburger concept Perk’d Up Burger will be in the Godet kitchen from Wednesday to Saturday. From mid-November, the bar will open on Sundays with The Ingredientist Kitchen doing Galician beef and Dorset pork roasts, pain au chocolat bread & butter pudding, and espresso martini tiramisu.
DJs will be spinning on the bar’s high-fidelity sound system each night, playing a mix of funk, soul, disco, house, garage and Afrobeats, so it looks like Godet is gonna become an Essex Road fave.
