THE BEST THINGS TO DO ON DATE NIGHT

There’s more to dating than just getting smashed right? Whether it’s your first date or time to treat your other half, don’t panic, we’ve got you covered. We’ve rounded up the best date night ideas in London.

1. Listen to Jazz at Ronnie Scott’s

There’s no easier way to look sophisticated than by going to see some live jazz and there’s no better place to do it than Ronnie Scott’s. Book for the late late shows if you really wanna make a night of it.

2. Swingers

Balls will be flying on a date at Swingers, crazy golf course. With 2x 9-hole golf courses and lots of booze to keep you lubricated, the good times will just keep on flowing at Swingers, so take our advice and take your date swinging!

3. Highgate Cemetery

Going to a graveyard on a first date might not be the best idea, but Highgate Cemetery is the perfect place to wander with someone you haven’t just met on Tinder. With everyone from Karl Marx to George Michael buried here there’s lots to explore and it’s just so peaceful!

4. Candlelit Soane Lates

If dinner ain’t your thing, you can’t get more romantic than a candlelit tour of Sir John Soane’s Museum. Open late one night a month, the evening will give you the chance to see the museum in a whole new light and sip some wine – how classy!

5. All Star Lanes

Bowl your date over with a trip to All Star Lanes. Not only will you be able to knock over those pins, but make a proper night of it with cocktails and a bangin’ food menu. It’s got a proper American theme and the perfect place for a laid-back date night.

6. Pedalo in Hyde Park

Love a bit of old skool romance? Get down to Hyde Park and hire a pedalo. You can’t beat a bit of watery action to get those sparks flying. If it all goes tits up you can always push them in…but if things go to plan it’s cheap, fun and the perfect date idea for a sunny afternoon.

7. Press for Champagne at Bob Bob Ricard

If you wanna show off and be Mr & Mrs fancy pants, Bob Bob Ricard should be at the top of your list. The iconic Soho restaurant is dripping in gold and even has a ‘press for champagne’ button at each table. Dinner might not be cheap, but what do you expect from somewhere where you ring for champagne…

8. Electric Cinema

For those who think a cinema date is too generic have clearly never been to Electric Cinema. With two seater sofas, blankets and a bar shaking up cocktails, there’s even more of an excuse to cuddle up in front of the big screen.

9. Petersham Nurseries

Petersham Nurseries is pretty damn romantic, as well as being able to browse the plants you can enjoy lunch in their insta-worthy greenhouse restaurant. Whether you’re up for a healthy lunch or a huge slab of cake and coffee, Petersham Nurseries is sure to impress.

10. Science Museum Lates

Bring out your inner nerd on a date at the science museum. On the last Wednesday of every month, the museum opens after hours for an adult-only night of fun. Each night is centred on a different theme from gaming and sex to food & drink. With a silent disco, live music and lots of hands-on workshops, there’s lots to do and entry is completely free.

11. London Shell Co.

Getting a dinner date right can be tricky, but London Shell Co. is sure to impress. The floating seafood restaurant is docked in Paddington, but cruises down the canal for dinner. It’s like a sophisticated booze cruise with food that will knock your kippers off. Perfect for an extra special date night.

12. Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens is a BLOOMIN’ great date idea. You can walk among the treetops, explore the glasshouses and wander through the wild meadows, and even if you get bored of all the plants there’s plenty of art to see with sculptures from Henry Moore and Eduardo Paolozzi, alongside two galleries.

13. Bounce

It will either be make it or break it on a date at Bounce. The ping pong club will let you battle it out to funky tunes while feasting on pizza and sipping on beer. It’s super fun and a great night out, but could cause a domestic for some couples -you know who you are!

14. Kayak to CRATE Brewery

Why walk your date down to Crate when you can kayak them there instead? Paddle all the way down London’s oldest canal from Limehouse to Hackney Wick in a double boat, work up a nice thirst and see the East End in a whole new way too.

15. Blend Your Own Gin at The Ginstitute

Instead of just necking G&Ts on your date, learn how to blend them instead with this gin making experience. After learning all about the history of the spirit, you can get hands on, choosing your botanticals and distilling your very own bespoke gin.

Want more boozy ideas? If anyone knows romance it’s the Italians and 16. Bar Termini is sure to woo your special one. The tiny Italian coffee shop-come-cocktail bar is pretty swish inside and will take you back to 1950s Italy with proper table service and some of the best negronis in town. 17. Gordon’s Wine Bar, the oldest one in London, has the ideal ambience with its candlelit caves and aged wooden walls. Low lighting is your friend, especially if you’re on a Hinge date. If you’re out to impress, head over to 18. Oriole for cocktails. It’s weird, it’s wonderful and has one of the most interesting cocktail menus in town. Yes, you could be drinking from a mushroom or a pasta shell here. Get your own private bartender at 19. BYOC – you bring the booze, they shake up the bevs. It’s a great way to use up whatever’s lurking at the back of your drinks cabinet, although your date doesn’t need to know that.
