Lockdown or not, Christmas is still coming to London this year and so is the festive drinking – ‘TIS THE SEASON! The pubs and bars might be closed but that’s not gonna stop us from getting our mulled wine fix. Whether it’s at home or a cheeky takeaway whilst we’re getting our steps in, these are the ones we’ll be sippin’.
The Urban Winery One | Renegade
The Bethnal Green winery is doing three types of mulled wine: House Mulled Red; ‘Kyra’ 2019 Sauvignon Blanc VIP Mulled White; ‘Ebony’ 2018 Tempranillo VIP Mulled Red and you can get them to take away from Tues – Sun. The house one is £4.50 (the other two are £6.50) and if you purchase a bottle of wine you get it free. WINING & WINNING.
The One Next to the Park | Clissold Park Tavern
The first place in Stokey to do proper takeaway pints during the first lockdown and coincidentally one of the places we visited most. The pints are still there but there’s now takeaway mulled wine (or cider) on offer too. You just place an order using one of the QR codes they’ve got outside the pub and someone will bring it out to you. How’s that for service…
The Wine Bar One | Diogenes the Dog
If you’re round Elephant & Castle way, swing by Diogenes the Dog for a cup of mulled vino. They’re pouring three types – red, white and rose – all made with their house-made spiced brandy mix and all £7.
The Celeb Spotting One | Red Lion & Sun
This pub in Highgate village – home to many an A-lister – has set up a takeaway booze hut in their garden complete with its own phone for you to use outside to call the server inside the hut and pre-order. Yep, it’s silly but blame the guidelines set by the bunch of cowboys AKA the government. Bag a mulled wine and do some celeb spotting, gotta get your kicks somehow.
The Insta-Famous One | Shop Cuvée
They’ve bossed lockdown so it’s no surprise that Shop Cuvée has got mulled wine covered too. Their bottled version made from young Rioja, Sicilian white wine, spices, and real life joy is ready to heat at home. It’s got serious social media cred too, share on your feed and watch the likes roll in. All about THAT content.
The Hipster One | Wavey Ice
The hipster as hell boozy ice pop brand Wavey Ice has gone hot for Christmas with its Dutty Wine pouches filled with a mix of mulled wine and overproof rum. Pour, microwave, drink, job done.
