The Best New Restaurants Opening in 2026

It’s shaping up to be a busy year for London restaurants

There are so many new restaurant openings in London that it can be a hard task keeping track of what’s opening where and when. That’s why we keep a handy list of the best new restaurants regularly updated for you. We’re also fans of planning ahead – especially when it comes to those hard-to-score reservations – so we’re also rounding up the best new restaurants slated for 2026. Start compiling your hit lists, which we think are going to be rather long….

Temaki

A.M. Dupee opened Temaki, the city’s first handroll bar inspired by those in California, in Brixton in 2021, and the restaurant quickly earned a loyal following (including us) for its fresh handrolls and great value menu sets. Now he’s relocating the restaurant from Market Row to a bigger two-level space on Mayfair’s Maddox Street, which’ll have 16 seats around a counter and a 28-cover downstairs space, inspired by Japanese listening bars. The signature handrolls will still feature on the menu (we loved the BBQ eel and the otoro tuna ones on the Brixton menu) but more space will allow the team to expand the offering. That means Japanese small plates like crispy rice topped with premium cuts of fish, A4 wagyu sliders, and a changing selection of sandos alongside wines, sake and a tight cocktail list.

Kiez Kebab

The space that used to house contemporary ocakbasi restaurant The Counter, run by Turkish chef Kemal Demirasal, is soon flipping into the Berlin-inspired Kiez Kebab. Named after the Berlin term for a neighbourhood, Kiez Kebab will be a casual spot, decked out with steel, glass, concrete and walnut interiors and a bespoke sound system. The menu will be tight; according to Restaurant Magazine, it’ll be focused around veal, chicken and vegan kebabs served in pide. We’re assuming the spicy, garlic and herb sauces popular in Berlin döner kebabs will be there in some form. The drinks list will be similarly curated, featuring batched cocktails, German and Austrian beers, and wines.

Jody Williams

Buvette

James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur Jody Williams is brining her cult spot Buvette to town, taking over the former St. John Bakery site in Neal’s Yard. Jody, who also co-owns Via Carota, I Sodi, The Commerce Inn and Bar Pisellino with her wife Rita Sodi, first opened Buvette in the West Village in 2011 and has since taken the restaurant to Paris, Tokyo and Seoul. The 80-cover London outpost will be open all day, meaning you can pop in for a coffee, a leisurely lunch on the terrace or post-theatre cocktails. We don’t have a menu yet but we’d expect the menu to be similar to that on offer in NYC, which includes French dishes like artichokes barigoule, escargots, steak tartare, coq au vin, and tarte tatin.

Burnt Arches

Family-run spot Burnt has been slowly growing over the past few years and now Honor and Finlay Logan are opening site number three. Burnt Arches is coming to Bethnal Green this spring and will function as a space where the team can bake all their cakes, pastries and bread, including Burnt’s signature pistachio croissant, a rhubarb and apple chausson tossed in cinnamon sugar, and a savoury Welsh rarebit custard danish. After launching initially with baked goods, sandwiches and coffee, the new Burnt will then start a full lunch and brunch menu, with a produce-led evening menu following that. Finlay will be doing more expressive cooking, with dishes like southern fried, crab-stuffed confit chicken wings with hot honey and roasted lemon; mac and cheese Scotch pie; and crab risotto with nduja butter and miso-cured egg yolk set to appear.

Trèsind

Trèsind opened in Dubai in 2014 and has become a popular spot thanks to its “modernist Indian dining experience”, aka dishes like scarlet prawn crudo with Kashmiri chilli XO and beluga caviar; grilled lobster tail with coconut moilee dressing; hunter’s lamb leg raan; A5 wagyu steak with five curries; and daulat ki chaat with soan papdi crumble and 24-carat gold dust. Now Trèsind is making the move over to London, following in the footsteps of other UAE imports like Shanghai Me and Gaia, and opening in Mayfair this spring. Chef Himanshu Saini will be bringing some of the restaurant’s signature dishes, like the chaat trolley and khichdi, to the capital as well as creating some new menu items exclusively for London. The bar will be drawing on India’s regional drinking traditions for the cocktail list, which will feature number of Indian ingredients and spices.

Ravinder and Nadeem

Karam’s

Not content with opening a restaurant at the new V&A East in 2026, Jikoni founders Ravinder Bhogal and Nadeem Lalani Nanjuwany are opening Karam’s at The Brunswick Centre in Bloomsbury. Unlike Jikoni, which highlights cooking across borders, Karam’s will be more specific in its remit, featuring South Asian vegetarian dishes that are reflective of the pair’s Indian ancestry and the region’s heritage of nourishing maternal cooking. Though a more casual setting that Jikoni, Karam’s, which is named after Ravinder’s grandfather Sardar Karam Singh Bhogal (who had a spiritual relationship to the land and believed in feeding others as a way to help them) will still showcase Ravinder and Nadeem’s brand of restorative hospitality. As well as communal all-day dining, inspired by the langar halls of Gurdwaras, at Karam’s you can expect craft breads, veggie dishes made using heritage grains and organic farm-sourced ingredients, and nourishing thalis.

Arôme Chinatown

Hot on the heels of ONSU opening, another Asian-inspired bakery is on the way. Arôme already has two locations in London – one in Covent Garden, the other in Mayfair – and a third site will be opening in Chinatown this spring, proving that you can never have too much of a good thing. Known for blending French techniques and Asian flavours, Arôme has built a loyal following for its pistachio chocolate escargots, honey butter toasts, almond croissants, gula melaka coconut twists and miso bacon escargots. We don’t have a menu for the Chinatown bakery yet but we’d expect all the bestsellers to be there, as well having something that the other branches don’t – soft serve, with flavours that’ll change seasonally.

Padella Soho

Ten years after opening the first Padella in Borough Market, Tim Siadatan and Jordan Frieda will be opening their third location in Soho. The 80-cover Kingly Street site will be spread across two floors, with wood, formica and chrome on the ground floor, and more plush upholstery, polished teak, pink mirrors and a hidden private dining room downstairs. Padella faves like pici cacio e pepe and pappardelle with beef shin ragu will be on the menu, alongside new dishes created with the best British produce.

The Horsemen & Fitzgerald’s

Kentucky meets Dublin in London as dual concept The Horsemen and Fitzgerald’s gallops into Broadgate Circle this April. The American-Irish pub and clubhouse will feature two distinct but complementary spaces connected by horse racing and equestrian culture. At the front will be The Horsemen (opening on 7th April), an Irish pub with Guinness on draught, a large selection of Irish whiskies and American bourbons behind the bar, and live horse racing on the telly. Behind that will be Fitzgerald’s (opening on 13th April), a jockey club-inspired dining room with an all-day transatlantic menu curated by Executive Chef Esteve Prats Grau. Sova

The team behind modern Slavic restaurant Zima is flipping its Notting Hill restaurant into a wine and vinyl bar specialising in wines from Eastern and Central Europe. Sova, opening in April, will have space for 40 across counter, table and street-side terrace seating, with the wine list curated by sommelier Cristian Vega. The focus will be on low-intervention and skin-contact wines, with bottles including a Ukrainian-style Brut, Georgian orange wines, a Serbian Pinot Grigio, a Hungarian Riesling, a Slovenian Malvasia and chilled reds from Bulgaria. There’ll be Slavic-inspired sharing plates for you dip into alongside the wines, with the menu including dishes like slow-roasted peppers with anchovies and dill oil; beef tartare on Borodinksy bread with horseradish mayo; whisky and honey-roasted baby chicken with green salsa; crispy sea bass with fennel, grapefruit, garden peas and tarragon; miso-glazed duck confit with roasted Jerusalem artichokes and plum sauce; and dark chocolate mousse with sea buckthorn.

Mondo to Go

Mondo Sando, responsible for some of our fave sarnies in town already has two outposts in South East London – a kitchen at the Grove House Tavern and its own Cafe Mondo in Camberwell – and this April, it’s adding a third with Mondo to Go. Decked out in the same retro style as Cafe Mondo, complete with a small exhibit from the Museum of Stones, Mondo to Go in Deptford will be, as the name suggests, takeaway only. But if you want to eat your sarnies on the spot, you’ll only have to step outside and find a space on the sizeable 50-seater terrace. All the signature Mondo sarnies and sides, including the Mondo Frango, Mondo Combo, Everything Cutlet, pickles, and latkes, will be on offer at Mondo to Go, with some exclusive Deptford-only creations also hitting the menu. You’ll be able to wash all those down with pints, cherry lemonades, spiced apple sodas, grapefruit green tea slushies and more fun drinks.

Sarit and Itamar of Honey & Co

Honey & Co. Great Portland

Over the past 14 years, Sarit and Itamar have helped shape the Middle Eastern food scene in the city with their Honey & Co. restaurant group. This April, Honey & Co. Great Portland, a wine bar, deli and dining room, will open on the Honey & Smoke site. Running as a deli by day, it’ll flip into a wine bar by night, and will be somewhere you can pop in for a quick bite, a glass of wine, or a leisurely dinner. The new concept has been built around the wine programme, put together with Keeling Andrew, which features bottles from Greece, Palestine, Lebanon, Israel, Georgia, Italy, France and California. The food menu has been designed to allow grazing and sharing, with dishes including cheesy mizithra filo cigars with honey drizzle; anchovies on aubergine agrodolce crostini; tuna crudo with grated tomato and tahini; lamb arayes with a yogurt dip; fried artichoke with garlic, parsley and lemon; chicken liver skewers with parsley, cumin and garlic gremolata; whole charred prawns with preserved lemon and fermented chilli relish; crispy cauliflower rice with amba, flaked almonds and pickled chillies; and honey and feta cheesecake.

handroll

Kumori

Kumori, founded by Marc Flekei, started doing pop-ups last year, including at the Monaco Grand Prix, 1 Hotel Mayfair, and How Matcha in Marylebone. This spring it’s opening the doors to a permanent handroll bar in Soho, where the design, done by the same firm responsible for Kricket Shoreditch and Soma, has been inspired by Tokyo at sunset (kumori means “clouded light”). The kitchen is being headed up John Randy De Guzman (ex-Tobi Masa) with Alvin Contawe (ex-Dinings and Roka) joining as senior sushi chef. Handrolls will be the main draw, made to order using bespoke extra-crispy nori, designed to keep maintain the structural integrity of the rolls. Varieties will include unagi foie gras, spicy tuna with jalapeno miso, torched scallop, baked crab, and toro with torched bone marrow, with a selection of nigiri and small plates rounding out the menu.

Thai curry and rice

MIKO Mei Fair

When Samyukta Nair closed KOYN last year, we were told that the only the Japanese part of the restaurant would be going for good and that downstairs concept KOYN Thai would be relocated. Now we know that it’s being reimagined at MIKO Mei Fair and it’ll be taking up residence on the ground floor of Nair’s Chinese restaurant MiMi Mei Fair. That means more maximalist interiors, including timber panelling, red leather booths, gold leaf lotuses and tropical wall coverings. Soonthorn Apaipat, Head Chef of KOYN Thai, is making the move across Mayfair to cook up a menu that mixes new dishes and KOYN Thai favourites. Expect the likes of netted spring rolls; prawns pla ra; toasted rice beef tenderloin; lobster choo chee; apple wood fire Peking duck Penang curry; Chiang Mai sausage; black pepper squid; pad see ew; lamb massaman curry; and yellow crab curry.

Malay dishes

Padi

After opening branches in Singapore (in 2015) and NYC (in 2022), Padi is opening a third branch (and first in Europe) in London this April. Authentic halal Singaporean Malay comfort food is the name of the game at Padi, and though we don’t have a full menu yet, we’re being promised dishes like beef rendang, satay, mee rebus, ayam lemak chilli padi, lontong, nasi padang and nasi ambeng. According to Singapore restaurant’s IG account, it does the best nasi ambeng – that’s a sharing platter of rice, beef rendang, sambal prawn, stir fried long bean with tofu, chicken in spicy coconut gravy, potato cutlet and more – in the city, so we’re intrigued to see if the London version can match up

Cafe Jikoni

Jikoni founders Ravinder Bhogal and Nadeem Lalani Nanjuwany will be opening Cafe Jikoni at the institution. The Marylebone restaurant that the two have been operating since 2016 bills itself as a ‘mixed heritage’ restaurant South Asian, Middle Eastern, East African and British influences. The 120-cover Cafe Jikoni will build on this, offering nourishing food that reflects the diversity of the area at accessible price points. As well as offering a coffee programme developed with Workshop Coffee, including Jikoni’s own ‘no-borders’ roasted blend, the menu will include the likes of turmeric & ginger chicken pie; mushroom and egg congee with chilli oil; classic Bombay sandwich with green chutney; triple greens and feta filo pie lamb, baharat, currant and pine nut sausage rolls; palak paneer flatbread with pickled onions; Vietnamese coffee brownie with coffee fudge icing; and banana cake with miso frosting.

the Spiteri family

The Latimer

The Spiteris have been working in hospitality for two generations. Jon Spiteri is an original partner in The French House Dining Room, St JOHN and Sessions Arts Club: Melanie Arnold is co-founder of Rochelle Canteen: their sons Lorcan and Fin had been running Caravel and Studio Kitchen; and their daughter Molly is Business Development Lead at Koya. And now they’re combining that wealth of experience to open neighbourhood pub The Latimer. Lorcan will be heading up the kitchen, serving a menu that includes dishes like black pudding confit potato with homemade brown sauce; poached trout mayonnaise in little gem; brown crab tagliolini with bisque and lemon; oxtail with mash and horseradish; almond cake with custard and poached rhubarb; and white chocolate ganache with clementine and shortbread

Garden Bar Grill and Smokehouse by Cue Point London

After a decade of pop-ups, festivals, residencies Mursal Saiq and Joshua Moroney are opening their first permanent site this spring. Launching on 22nd April in partnership with the Garden Bar in West London, Garden Bar Grill and Smokehouse by Cue Point London will be the brand’s flagship home, landing just in time for Cue Point’s 10th birthday. If you’ve been following them for a while, you’ll know Cue Point has always done things its own way. Mursal and Josh built the concept around low-and-slow barbecue, Afghan flavours and a genuinely inclusive approach. That means halal, vegan and gluten-free options all built into the offering, rather than tacked on as an afterthought. The new site sounds like the fullest expression of that yet. There’ll be a large-format American drum smoker in the pub’s 200-cover garden, with the menu mixing Texas-style BBQ, live-fire cooking, and Afghan spices, chutneys, pickles and sauces.

IGNI

We were big fans of HUMO, where everything was cooked over various types of wood, but the restaurant is no more, having closed towards the end of last month. The site isn’t lying empty for long though as Creative Restaurant Group has brought in ex-Cycene chef Theo Clench to open new concept IGNI, with a 34-cover dining room and a 10-seater chef’s table. As you might deduce from the name, cooking over fire and the use of smoke is still going to be central (the kitchen will still not use electricity or gas), but this time there’ll be a focus on seafood, with produce coming from trusted suppliers like Henderson Seafood. Drawing inspo from his childhood memories of being by the water, Theo’s menu (available in set options only of eight, five and three courses) will include dishes like ember-cooked oyster with cucumber sauce, soft herb oil, fermented cucumber, nasturtium and bronze fennel; aged turbot on brioche with charred lettuce, smoked bone caramel and teriyaki turbot fins; aged tuna hutoro with foie gras, shiso and wasabi, and tartlet of akami with lapsang ponzu jelly; and smoked silken tofu with madong chocolate, roasted koji and wheat leaf tuiles.

Bar Etna

Ed McIlroy already has popular pub (The Plimsoll) and buzzy Spanish spot (Tollingtons) to his name, and now he’s getting into the pizza game with a helping hand from across the pond. Joe Beddia, whose Philly spot Pizzeria Beddia has won several plaudits (including a Bib Gourmand this year) is teaming up with Ed to open Bar Etna in Newington Green, which will be his first restaurant outside of the US. At Bar Etna, the pizzas will be made in Joe’s signature style and come as whole pies, with Ed adding an “ingredient-led approach” to the toppings, with rotating specials showcasing the best seasonal produce. There’ll be a number of Italian-American dishes, like aubergine parmigiana and meatballs on offer too alongside soft serve, house spritzes, negronis on tap, and low-intervention wines.

Kawan

Uncle Roger, aka Nigel NG, has built a 5-million-strong following for roasting people’s (including Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay) fried rice dishes, and now he’s showing us how it should be done by opening his own restaurant this spring. Nigel already has experience in the restaurant biz – he has six branches of FUIYOH! It’s Uncle Roger in Malaysia – but Kawan will be his first UK opening, and he’s teaming up with Keng Yew (co-founder of YiQi, San Hao, Dozo and The Eight) and Executive Chef Daren Liew (Nanyang Blossom, San Hao, Duddels and Hakkasan Group) to bring it to life. The 60-cover spot in Chinatown will be relaxed and informal, and the pan-Asian menu will follow a similar vibe. Rather than focusing on regional authenticity, the food will showcase Asian techniques and flavours adapted for British produce and tastes, with dishes like Sarawak Pepper Belly Delight; Chinatown Fried Rice; Hainanese Chicken Chop; Crispy Puff Chicken Wellington; and Wasabi Boom Boom Sausage.

The Golden Tooth

Matthew Scott and Charlie Carr have just about vacated the London Fields site that used to house their cult spot Papi but they’re already onto their next venture; a pub in Newington Green. The Golden Tooth, opening on the former site of the Leconfield, will see the gastro pub concept get Papi-fied, red loos and all. The space will be split in two – a pub serving more casual bar snacks and oysters shucked to order, and a 55-cover restaurant showcasing Matthew’s playful, produce-led and sustainable cooking. Expect snacks like currywurst with fried ox tongue and Bedfordshire clanger with Thai-style gooseberry jam in the front bar, with the dining room serving dishes such as veal sweatbread saltimbocca; Montgomery cheese puffs with sun gold tomato ketchup; steak tartate with lacto cep & mushroom crackers; turbot tranche with raw crème fraiche and grilled peas; Old Spot pork chop with quince; kid goat chop with ezme salad; Arctic roll with sour cherry; and jelly & ice cream. Charlie, who founded Wingnut Wines in Netil Market, will be overseeing the wine and will be highlighting micro producers, low-intervention bottles and homegrown English talent on the list.

Inspired by the idea that every ingredient carries an invisible power, the 156-cover MA/NA will celebrate the craft of Japanese food. Executive Chef Leo Tayang’s menu including dishes like tiger shrimp tempura with wasabi; robata-seared avocado with asparagus, mushrooms and spicy mayo baked in a flaming shell; and M5 Wagyu seared on a Himalayan salt stone with garlic-soy, ponzu and mixed Asian leaves. Kinz

Kinz is being opened by Jad Lahoud, Karim Lahoud, and Rasha Khouri Bruzzo. The trio is bringing a fresh take on Lebanese food to London with Kinz and they’re going big, taking over the former Lloyds Bank building on Notting Hill Gate. Designed by architect Sir Edward Maufe, it’s an impressive venue and it’s being put to good use. The main space will have room for 130, with a triple-height ground floor, a mezzanine level and a canopied bar underneath. There’ll be a private dining room holding 16 on the third floor, filled with pomegranate tapestries, there’ll be a dedicated wine room in the bank’s old vault, and a there’ll be a deli space up front. The all-day menu will mix recipes passed down through generations with modern creations. In the mornings you’ll be able to get egg dishes, sandwiches and a full Lebanese breakfast, with mezze and sharing plates on offer for lunch and dinner. It may be goodbye to Nest but the team (which also runs the Michelin-starred Restaurant St Barts) is hanging onto the site, flipping it into British bistro Tavern this spring. As it did at Nest, produce will come from top British farmers, fishermen and growers, with a focus on whole animal butchery and open fire cookery. Alongside daily seasonal specials, the menu will include dishes like devilled pig skin with smoked cod’s roe; Tavern sausage with curry sauce; barbecued cuttlefish and pork XO skewers; British bluefin tuna tostada with Irish wasabi; Brixham turbot with English sparkling wine and cobnut sauce; Yew Tree Farm hogget with anchovy and ewe’s curd; Tamworth pork served nose to tail with cider mustard sauce; Welsh Wagyu rib of beef with marrow and Dorset snails; and British chocolate tart with barley ice cream.

Ornella, opening on Wilton Way (on the site that was previously home to Fran’s and just a few doors down from Sally Abé’s new spot Teal), will be taking inspo from Milan, the city where Naz was raised. The menu will showcase the flavours of northern Italy, meaning dishes like Mondeghili meatballs; penne alla vodka; tagliatelle al burro e Parmigiano; risotto alla Milanese; vitello tonnato; cotoletto di vitello; mille foglie alle fragole; and zuppa Inglese.

Nammos

Mykonos hotspot Nammos (which also has sites in Cyprus, France and Dubai), where celebs flock to for Mediterranean food and party vibes when they’re on the island, is finally coming over to London. Yes the city’s Greek obsession doesn’t look to be fading any time soon. We first reported that the restaurant would be opening in Knightsbridge two years ago but a lot has changed in that time as Nammos will now being opening in Mayfair instead, taking over the former Il Borro site. The London outpost of the restaurant won’t be able to offer the sea views and cabanas on the beach you get at the original one, but it will be bringing “Aegean-inspired elegance” to the two-storey space. The menu will be largely Mediterranean, with some Japanese influences thrown in, with signature dishes like aubergine mille-feuille with whipped feta and spicy crab tartare with yuzu truffle joining steaks off the josper grill.

Oudh 1722

Aktar Islam is one of the biggest chefs in Britain – as well as being a regular on the telly, he holds two Michelin stars for his Birmingham restaurant Opheem, one of only two Indian restaurants in the UK (the other being Gymkhana) and four worldwide to hold the accolade. Now he’s coming to the capital to open Oudh 1722 this spring. Opening across three floors in a listed Victorian building in Borough, Oudh 1722 will showcase Islam’s interpretation of Awadhi cuisine. Originating in Lucknow, which has been listed a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, Awadhi cooking was shaped in the royal courts of northern India and is known for its kebabs, biryanis and curries made using the dum pukht method of slow-cooking over a low flame. the menu at Oudh 1722 will include dishes like Kakori kebab of finely minced lamb shoulder with chilli and rose; Lasooni jinga of king prawn with garlic and raw mango; Dahi paneer with cultured cream and fenugreek; Raan-e-dum pukht – smoked Wiltshire lamb shoulder baked in a lamb-fat crust; Zameen doz machli – whole turbot slow-cooked in spiced ghee with brown shrimp and saalan; Aylesbury duck with beetroot curry; Gobhi mussalam – roasted cauliflower in toasted poppy seed korma with seasonal truffle; and Awadhi nimish – aerated saffron soft serve enriched with almonds.

The Sea, The Sea

Fishmongers and seafood bar The Sea, The Sea has gained a loyal following from both punters and restaurants alike (it supplies the likes of Ikoyi and KOL), and it’s been such a success that founder Alex Hunter is expanding the biz with a new bistro and fish shop, complete with an outdoor terrace. And he’s only going across Pavilion Road to do it. The retail offering at the new site will be larger, so as well as house-aged fish, shellfish, and day boat catches on display, there’ll also be a seaweed counter, freshly prepared lunch boxes of sashimi sets and shellfish rolls to grab-and-go, and oven-ready options like miso black cod and Singapore chilli crab. Come evening, the space flips into a ten-seater seafood bar. There’ll be more room to eat in upstairs in the 40-cover bistro led by Head Chef Nick Marsden (ex-Dovetale, Pitt Cue and The Laughing Heart). His menu will include dishes like pickled Fowey mussels with sunsweet melon and lovage; confit sea trout with white asparagus and mustard greens; skate wing with Trombetta courgette, nettle and Gordal olives; grilled half Cornish lobster with Vin Jaune sabayon and brown butter; whole plaice with braised punterelle, broad beans and mint; potato ice cream, preserved spruce and smoked eel; and Okinawa sugar tart with pumpkin seed praline.

Cloth Cornhill Simpson's Tavern

Cloth Cornhill

The team behind much-loved Farringdon restaurant Cloth, are gearing up for another smash hit with their next restaurant, having taking on the legendary Simpson’s Tavern in the City. Open since 1757, Simpson’s is known as London’s oldest chop house, and was a favourite of William Thackeray and Charles Dickens back in the day. Although it’s been shuttered for the past couple of years, the Cloth team – Joe Haynes, Ben Butterworth, and Tom Hurst – are hard at work transforming the site for a mid-2026 opening as Cloth Cornhill (the Simpson’s name can no longer be used for legal reasons). As you’d expect from such an old Grade II-listed building, many of the original features, such as the wood panelled walls, bow windows, brass rails, fireplaces, and high-backed wooden seating booths, will be kept, while giving the place a much needed makeover to bring it up to date. Given how nice the original Cloth looks, the combination of the Cloth style with this historic building should be an absolute winner.

Asma Khan

Darjeeling Express

Asma Khan is relocating her Indian restaurant Darjeeling Express for the fourth time. Khan started Darjeeling Express as a pop-up at Soho pub The Sun & 13 Cantons in 2014 before taking on a permanent site in Kingly Court. She decided not to reopen there post-lockdown and chose instead to move the restaurant to a bigger site in Covent Garden, where she stayed until the summer of 2022. Following another pop-up stint, this time in west London, Khan moved Darjeeling Express back to Kingly Court at the beginning of 2023. Now she’s leaving the Carnaby venue once more and taking over the old Horvada site on Rupert Street in Chinatown. Darjeeling Express 4.0 will be much bigger and set over two floors, with a bigger dining area and more room for Khan’s all-female team in the kitchen. As she has said on Instagram, that means more food like “kathi rolls, keema, samosa, vada pav, falooda, all the things that are your favourites. Maybe bring back a midweek biryani”.

Opens spring / summer 2026

Roost

Local trio Andrew Neilson, Amil Ourabah, and Jake Salter are teaming up to turn the former Can Club site in the Winchelsea Road arches into Roost, a rotisserie chicken spot centred around corn-fed, responsibly sourced and 100% halal birds flavoured with a bespoke Algerian spice blend. The concept is taking inspiration from ex-Coach & Horses chef Amil Ourabah’s Algerian heritage, who, along with smoking master Jake Salter, has developed Roost’s spice blend and cooking process, which includes dry brining the chickens for 24 hours. As well as the main event, Roost will also be serving wine, beers from East London breweries, and cocktails created in collaboration with the Golden Pineapple in Brighton. Expect serves like the Algerian Grandfather, a take an Old Fashioned made with date syrup, honey, and cinnamon, and the Le Marguerite, made with tequila, harissa-infused mezcal and a chicken salt rim.

Bulbul

Just a short walk from Blackfriars, the South Bank and St Paul’s, the new opening comes from chef-restaurateur Rohan D’Souza and Twinkle Keswani, who was named Young Restaurateur of the Year by The Economic Times in 2023. Between them, they already run multiple restaurants in India. Ahead of the launch, the pair travelled across India, spending time in local kitchens, markets and home restaurants to build a menu spotlighting dishes that rarely make it beyond their own regions. Expect Forest Pepper Crab Dosa, a Tamil Nadu-style dosa stuffed with crab and forest pepper masala; Goan Shrimp Balchão, where 48-hour braised shrimp is piled onto melba toast; and larger plates like Jim Corbett Hunter’s Murgh Mussallam and Nilgiri Beef Short Rib Korma.

Major’s Grill

Not content with bringing Carbone to London, American food and beverage operators Major Food Group have announced they will also be opening Major’s Grill this side of the pond in 2026. Set in Cambridge House, Auberge Collection, we’re hoping it is heavily influenced by The Grill – one of our favourite spots in New York. One of the few restaurants that still has big dick Manhattan energy, ‘boom boom’ interiors, expense account dining and three martini lunches. The space, located in Mayfair inside a grand Georgian ballroom transformed by designer Jean-Louis Deniot, will bring a mid-century spin to the classic London grill – think plush interiors, white-jacketed service captains, and old-school table-side theatrics (something MFG are very well known for). On the menu, it’s prime cuts, seafood, and classic dishes, whilst the drinks list features ten different takes on the martini and a cellar stacked with First Growth Bordeaux, Grand Cru Burgundy, and rare vintages.

beef rib noodles

Noodle Inn Battersea

Ever since Noodle Inn on Old Compton Street went viral, it’s had people queuing around the block for its hand-pulled biang biang noodles slapped down on the counter, and knife-cut noodles, cut off from blocks of dough straight into the pot. It became so popular that at the back end of 2025, a second site opened in the City, close to Liverpool Street station. And the team isn’t losing any momentum as a third location is now on the way. All you south Londoners will be pleased to hear that the new branch is opening on your side of the river, taking up a spot in Turbine Hall B at Battersea Power Station. We don’t have a menu for the Battersea location yet but we’d expect a similar line-up of dishes, including beef rib noodles covered in chilli oil, knife-cut noodles with scrambled egg and tomato, chilli oil spill tofu, pan-fried dumplings, and wontons with chilli oil.

Coreus and Café Boulud

The 100-bedroom Admiralty Arch Waldorf Astoria, which is being developed by Hilton in partnership with the Reuben Brothers, opens its doors in 2026. As well as a ballroom and spa, the Admiralty Arch Waldrof Astoria hotel will have one all-day restaurant and terrace, a more formal 50-cover restaurant with a chef’s table, and an underground bar that nods to some of the building’s historic residents like Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming. Clare Smyth, who runs the three-star Core in Notting Hill, will be operating one of the restaurants called Coreus. NYC-based Daniel Boulud, most famous for having run Bar Boulud at the Mandarin Oriental for a decade and whose collection of restaurants includes four Michelin stars, will be running the other, called Café Boulud.

exterior of the Chancery Rosewood

Caprice Restaurant

The Chancery Rosewood in Mayfair, open on the site of the former US Embassy on Grosvenor Square to the tune of £1 billion, was one of the biggest launches of last year. As well as boasting 144 suites, the hotel is home to a number of high-profile restaurants, and back in 2024, Richard Caring confirmed that he’d also be relaunching Le Caprice at The Chancery Rosewood – though Jeremy King took over the original Le Caprice site in Mayfair with Arlington in 2024, Caring has owned the Le Caprice name since 2005. However Caring’s reinterpretation of Le Caprice wasn’t mentioned in the hotel’s announcement of its food and beverage partners last summer, and it was widely believed that the project was cancelled. Now it appears that it’s very much back on. Caprice Holdings has posted a job listing for a general manager to lead a flagship opening at the hotel, which is “set to be one of the most anticipated openings of 2026”. The new venue will be called Caprice Restaurant, rather than Le Caprice, and it’s a new concept, not a relaunch.

iskender kebab

Kebapci Iskender

Kebapci Iskender is a Turkish institution – founded in Bursa in 1867, it’s remained a family-run business for several generations, with Oğuzhan İskenderoğlu now in charge. Iskender has two locations in Bursa and a smart restaurant in Istanbul (which we’re big fans of), and now it’s coming to London. The restaurant is opening on Beauchamp Place, close to Harrods, and though we don’t exactly when yet, the hoardings are up outside the space. We also haven’t seen a menu but given Iskender has been doing its signature iskender kebab – pide piled with tomato sauce and lamb döner, served with roasted aubergine and yoghurt, and finished with plenty of melted butter – for well over a century, this will be the star of the show.

Kricket Covent Garden

Rik Campbell and Will Bowlby are men on a mission; the pair opened a Kricket restaurant and a second branch of cocktail bar SOMA in Canary Wharf towards the end of 2024, before establishing a fourth restaurant in Shoreditch in the spring of 2025, which was also the first Kricket site to operate all-day with a breakfast offering. Now a fifth Kricket is on the way, opening in Neal’s Yard this year. Joining neighbours like The Barbary and Story Cellar, this Kricket take up residence in a 4000 sq ft space and have room for 130 covers. Like the Shoreditch site, the Covent Garden restaurant will also run all day and serve breakfast (dishes on the Shoreditch menu include eggs bhurji, bacon pao and kedgeree), alongside an a la carte selection of modern Indian plates.

Kiji

Ellia and two-Michelin-star chef Junghyun Park are the pair behind Atomix in NYC, which is ranked at number six on the World’s 50 Best list and has also been named the best restaurant in North America. And they’re coming to London to open Kiji, an elevated Korean BBQ experience. The restaurant will be taking up residence in a suitably storied location; 60 Curzon in Mayfair, which has just been redeveloped. The 8000 sq ft site, comprising a dining area, bar, lounge and private chef room, was the previous home of Mirabelle, an institution that hosted guests such as Orson Welles, Winston Churchill and Elizabeth Taylor.

The Prince Edward

Julie’s is one of the most beloved spots in Notting Hill and this year, the team – owner Tara MacBain, chef patron Owen Kenworthy, and general manager Rupert Walsh – are taking on another West London project. The trio will be reinventing longstanding pub The Prince Edward, which has been a local landmark since the 19th century. The structure of the historic building won’t be changing too much, with the original architectural features being restored and warm timbers, layered textures and heritage tones being added by designer Rosanna Bossom (who also did the Julie’s interiors). Owen’s menu will feature plenty of pub classics, including bar snacks, seasonal pies, fish & chips, rotisserie and grill dishes, and Sunday roasts. The bar will be well stocked with beers from a selection of independent and heritage breweries, with European wines and classic cocktails also on offer.
