the best british sandwich week specials

We bloody love a good sarnie, so when there’s a whole week dedicated to lovely fillings stuffed between two pieces of bread we’re all over it. It’s British Sandwich Week this week and some of our fave sandwich masters are going all out with some extra special creations. Prepare to feel very, very hungry…

Bombay Bad Boy | Max’s Sandwich Shop x PILAU

Max has teamed up with PILAU for a play on his famous Bhaji Smuggler sarnie. Containing Max’s key elements of hot, cold, sweet, sour, crunchy and soft, the Bombay Bad Boy is made of lemon marinated chicken, lime-pickled onions, PILAU slaw, coriander ketchup, fresh herbs and PILAU’s crunchy Sev. You can pick up this baby at either the Fitzrovia or Soho branches of PILAU or get it delivered.

Old Spot Pork Belly with Dr Pepper Glaze | The Black Hamburg

Late-night sarnie spot The Black Hamburg is adding a rather special special to their two-sandwich menu for BSW. It’s a big slab of Old Spot pork belly, glazed with Dr Pepper glaze, and topped with bourbon onions, kimchi and bacon jam. Er YUM.

Fried Chicken Cemita | Breddos

Breddos are getting in on the sarnie action with their take on the traditional Mexican cemita. This one includes Breddos’ fried chicken, bacon, Oaxaca cheese, arbol salsa, avo, pickled shallots, coriander, jalapeños and onions, all stuffed in a sesame bun. Head on down the Clerkenwell taqueria if you wanna get your chops round this one.

Steamed XO Club Sandwich | StreetXO

StreetXO is known for its wild and wacky dishes so it’s no surprise that chef Dabiz Muñoz has put a creative twist on his sandwich. Revamping the classic club sarnie, the StreetXO version consists of suckling pig, ricotta, quail egg and chilli mayo.

Mad-hattan Sandwich | Manhattan Grill

Don’t bother heading out Canary Wharf way unless you’re carrying a huge appetite (or some mates) with you because this sarnie is a MONSTER. It’s a foot long and 30 ounces, stuffed with USDA prime beef fillet, cheddar, bacon, mushrooms and mozzarella sticks. It’ll set you back £120, though it is supposed to be split four ways, and comes with bottomless fries and coleslaw. Stretchy pants at the ready.
