the beat hotel marrakech

If you’ve ever been to Glastonbury you’ll know all about The Beat Hotel, a quirky retro restaurant, bar and disco all in one. Lord knows those Lager-ritas have saved us a fair few times. So we were very excited to see that the guys behind The Beat Hotel are putting on their very own festival, and it’s about as far from a muddy field as you can get. Yes, the vibes will be more scorching dessert at The Beat Hotel festival, which is taking place just outside Marrakech at the end of March 2019.

Fifteen minutes outside Marrakech set in a 27-acre boutique resort, the Beat Hotel Marrakech is set amongst secluded gardens, with swimming pools, palm trees, bars, pop-up restaurants, live music and DJs. Amongst the many highlights are Alexis Taylor, Young Fathers, and Giles Peterson. The location, framed with views of the Atlas Mountains, comes to life throughout different parts of the day with sunset live shows, daytime poolside sessions, and late night house parties. Sure beats the grey, rain and cold of Glasto!

The original Beat Hotel was a small, run-down hotel in the Latin Quarter of Paris, gaining fame as the home of the extended family of Beat writers and artists who stayed there in the late 1950s and early ’60s. Freed from conservative 1950s America, the Beats – William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso and their many friends and collaborators – made it a bed of creativity.
