Across the pond, the fourth Thursday of November, aka Thanksgiving, (which falls on 27th November this year) is a very big deal
It’s a day that commemorates the harvest feast shared by the Plymouth colonists from England and Native Americans in 1621, although nowadays it’s more of an excuse to get family and friends together, eat turkey and put marshmallows on sweet potatoes, watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and the NFL Thanksgiving games, and go mad for bargains on Black Friday.
It’s not a national holiday in the UK but whether you’re a bonafide yank who celebrates Thanksgiving in London every single year or an Americana fanatic who just loves a roast turkey, there are plenty of Thanksgiving feasts to get stuck into right here in the capital. Here are the places to go for turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie.

As a New York import, it would be remiss of NoMad not to put on a Thanksgiving feast. On the day itself, the restaurant Twenty8 NoMad will be serving kale salad, Walsgrove Farm’s roasted turkey with all the classic trimmings (including stuffing, green bean casserole, mash and carrots), and a dessert table of pumpkin, pecan, apple and chocolate pies. And because the leftovers are always the best bit, you can get leftover Thanksgiving sandwiches for lunch the next day too.

Rondo at The Hoxton, Holborn is going American for one night only with a big Thanksgiving feast. The menu includes dishes like chicken liver parfait with plum compote; roasted sweet potato arancini with maple mayo; maple & thyme-roasted turkey and Coca-Cola glazed gammon with all the sides; and winter spiced pumpkin pie with bourbon syrup. The Pem, the fine-dining joint that sits inside bougie Westminster hotel the Conrad London St James, is doing an American-British mash-up for Thanksgiving. The menu includes buttermilk jalapeno cornbread with maple butter; sweetcorn & clam chowder with dressed crab and Exmoor caviar; maple roast Cumbrian turkey with all the trimmings, including duck fat hasselback potatoes and Brussel sprouts, and pumpkin pie ice cream with shortbread.
