Thai One On | Asiatic Has Opened A New Highbury Studio

Asiatic's second site brings deep tissue and Thai bodywork to a 100-year-old shopfront in Highbury, just up the road from the original.

Asiatic has been dishing out Thai massages on Upper Street since 2009, and now it has a new studio in Highbury, part of the wider Islington patch. It’s set inside a historic building a few doors along from the original Angel branch we reviewed in 2023, underneath a preserved gold-leaf Schram & Scheddle sign that most people walk past without ever clocking.

The whole studio has a simple, clean feel to it. No fuss, no over-styled spa clichés, just calm rooms. We booked in for the 90-minute Thai Yoga Massage with Jane, and got the full PJs treatment. Thai massage is done clothed, so you’re handed a set of loose cotton pyjamas rather than left under a towel. Jane talked through pressure before we started, and from there it was 90 minutes of stretching, compression and the kind of assisted yoga you’d never manage to do to yourself. Time properly flew by, which is usually the best sign a treatment’s working.

If you fancy a massage that’s more about the stretching and cracking than relaxing, this is the one.
