This year, the Casio G-Shock turns 30. Jeez we remember the Baby-G years fondly! To celebrate this milestone, G-Shock has collaborated with the ultra cool Californian trainer brand Supra. The collection ‘It’s About Time’ features an extremely limited edition watch and matching trainers, or sneakers…you say potato.

The trainers are Supra’s Vaider high tops, the Vaider Lite takes nods from their Red Carpet series, in the same colour palette as the watch, and its red sole is a cheeky link to the celebrities wearing a certain heel at A-List events. The iconic GS-200SPR has been given Supra treatment, sleek and minimal, in matte black and post box red. The traditional resin band of Casio has been replaced with military grade Cordura that has a red underside to reflect the red sole. Looks good, and it’s virtually indestructible.

Shigenori Itoh, Chairman and CEO of Casio America Inc explains why Supra were the only guys they wanted to collaborate with “For the past 30 years, we have been committed to finding like-minded brands and Supra is one of them…Supra’s dedication to developing innovative and dynamic products that are durable and can withstand the most uncompromising situations is the perfect match for a G Shock, the toughest watch on the market.”

The black Vaider Lite high top is not only sleek enough to stroll down a red carpet, but also features two of Supra’s key technologies: the black TUF upper employs SUPRATUF abrasio resistance technology, and the sole is lightweight SUPRAFOAM which provides comfort and impact protection. The trainer also has a The custom red G-Shock sock liner, and a tongue which features the “It’s About Time” clock set to 8:13, which in military time is 20:13.
