It’s hard to beat a cold, crisp glass of wine on a warm day, especially if it’s a rosé – basic or not, we stand by the fact that the pink stuff just tastes so good in the summer sun. From pink pet nat to vegan vino, these are the summer wines we’re popping and pouring this season.
Della Vite Rosé Prosecco
The Delevingne sisters’ prosecco brand, Della Vite, has released a third to their range, the D.O.C. Rosé Millesimato. Sustainably sourced and fully vegan with a creamy texture and fruity notes, this pink fizz is only one month out the tank and is already raking up the awards.
Pasqua Hey French
This Italian Soave from historic winery Pasqua is a blend of four of their best vintages from the past decade. It’s fresh, fragrant and floral, with a hint of minerality from the vineyard’s volcanic soil. With tasting notes of chamomile, hazelnut, citrus, tropical fruit, this is a brilliant choice to accompany shellfish and/ or a plate of pasta.
French Bloom
Co-founded by model Constance Jablonski and Maggie Frerejean-Taittinger, French Bloom gives you everything you want from a summer wine, bar the booze. Le Rosé is 0% alcohol (they also do a Le Blanc) and is full of cherry, peach and wild berry flavours.
Ultimate Provence Rosé
Name a better summer drink than a crisp, light Provence rose – we’ll wait. This one not only tastes good but it’s got a bit of a funky bottle too and it comes in magnums so great for the girls and the gram. The kinda rose we can quaff all summer long, especially when the sun is out.
Savour Wines
If you’re after some vino to serve at a summer dinner party, then Savor has you covered. The vegan wine brand has produced three bottles – red, white and rose from Italy, Spain and France – that have been designed to pair with recipes from the region they come from, so you can cook up a feast knowing you’ll have the perfect booze to go with it.
Renegade ‘Crystal’ Nat Fizz
Produced at Renegade Urban Winery in the heart of Bethnal Green, this pet nat is bursting with all the pink and red fruit notes, like raspberry, rhubarb and strawberry, you could want from a wine and as it’s not been disgorged, it’s got a nice summer haze on it as well.
L’Occhiolino Sparkling Red
This brand-new Italian sparkling red comes from the heart of Bologna and with just 7.5% alcohol, it’s the perfect bottle to whip out over a long summer lunch. Best served chilled, it’s full of fruity, spicy notes and delicate ruby-red bubbles.
Exton Park Rosé
Exton Park’s rosé is a delicate, dry bottle featuring notes of white peach, rose and strawberry liquorice. Nice, ‘eh? Made from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier, it’s a refreshing and light variety, perfect to have up your sleeve for a summer evening.
Wednesday’s Domaine
If you want all the best bits of wine except the alcohol (and a fuzzy head), then brand new alcohol-free wine brand Wednesday’s Domaine is the one for you. They have a white and red, both of which have the complexity of flavour that other booze-free wines have been missing – the white, made from Airen Blanco grapes, is crisp and citrusy whilst the red, made from Tempranillo grapes, had notes of plums and blackcurrants, and both go down a treat.
Hattingley Valley Rosé
The 2019 Rosé is the latest bottle in the Hattingley Valley sparkling rage and boy is it a good’un. Made from Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir Précoce grapes and fermented in old Burgundy barrels and in the bottle, it’s a real fruity number with notes of strawberries, raspberries, grapefuit and pomegrante, with a delicate sweetness offsetting the bubbles.
Pink Diesel
Name a better way to spend your summery evenings than with a light, peachy rosé from Provence. You can’t can you? Perfectly pale in colour, Pink Diesel is the ideal summer tipple: a light, crisp and dry wine, with notes of honey, peach and citrus undertones. Elegant and light, one sip of the good stuff will take you straight to the South of France. Oh and did we mention the brand is female-founded? We love to see it.
Rock Angel
You know Whispering Angel but that’s not the only rosé that Chateau d’Esclans produces. Rock Angel is the bigger, badder sis, with a richer and more complex flavour profile. It has the berry and floral notes you want from a silky smooth rose with a creamier texture thanks to time spent in oak barrels. So good you’ll be drinking it all year round.
