Yes for one night only Downton Abbey – or Highclere Castle as it’s known in real life – is opening its doors to the British public. Lord and Lady Carnarvon are teaming up with Airbnb to list the 100,000sq ft, 300-room castle, offering two guests the chance to sleep over Crawley family-style. The stay includes cocktails in the Saloon, dinner in the State Dining Room with Earl and Countess of Carnarvon served by Highclere’s butler (his name may or may not be Carson), followed by coffee in the Library.
After waking up in one of the Gallery bedrooms, you’ll also be treated to breakfast and a private tour of the castle’s grounds, so you can explore all your fave Downton Abbey locations, and you’ll even get a special gift from your hosts to take away. What with the movie having just been released, this is going to be a very popular listing, so to have a good chance of being able to book when it goes live on October 1st at noon, you’ll need to have a verified Airbnb profile, positive reviews, and obviously be a Downton Abbey fan.
