stay in a cabin in the cotswolds

Holidays are good for you – true story – which is why we’re big supporters of all kinds of jollies, no matter how near, far or long they may be. We’re all about maximising our time off from work and a luxury cabin in the Cotswolds, just 90 minutes from central London makes for a cracking night or two away from the big smoke.

Log House Holidays is a 130-acre nature reserve in the Cotswolds containing eight luxury log cabins dotted around a huge lake. Each cabin comes with its own private beach, rowing boat, hot tub, fire pit with marshmallows and all mod-cons. We shacked up in Lake Springs House reached via its own private gravel drive that winds through the trees and is set right on the water’s edge – just like in the movies. Inside the cabin is an open plan living room with log fire and fully equipped kitchen with panoramic views of the lake; it’s pretty special alright.

Outside, just beyond the decking, you’ll find a private rowing boat, which we used to get around the whole lake, spotting swans and herons along the way. Stop still in the centre of the lake just before the sun goes down and tell us it’s not something else. There are kayaks, bikes, endless amount of walks to venture on and even a pub a few miles away if for some reason you wanted to leave the cabin. Did we mention the hot tub? Oh yes, there is a hot tub which will turn your evenings into a wrinkled realm of fun.

This is a self-catering cabin, which means a trip to the supermarket in the nearby Cirencester is high on the agenda or you could pre-arrange a delivery just to make it that bit easier. Whatever you decide it’s sure to be the only tough decision you’ll make during your stay as everything else is just bliss. Go see for yourself…

GETTING THERE
We used Virtuo, the new 100% mobile car rental app taking over London, which allowed us book, locate, unlock and drive away in a Mercedes using only our phone which cost £35 per day. There are no keys, no forms, no nonsense, just pick it up and drop it off and do everything, including opening the car through the app. Easy.

Virtuo operates from five central locations across London (London Victoria, London Waterloo, King’s Cross St Pancras, Marble Arch and Kensington) where you can pick up the freshly valeted cars.
