spicebox is opening a vegan curry house

After a successful run on the street food circuit with KERB, SpiceBox is to open its first permanent location in January. Opening on Hoe Street in Walthamstow, right opposite Yard Sale Pizza, there’ll also be a soft launch with 50% off food from the 23rd to 27th January.

The menu will be modern Indian with plenty of nods to the iconic British curry house, featuring classic dishes reimagined with a plant-based spin. Highlights from the Street Bites section include the Loaded Onion Bhaji with pickled onions, green chilli, date and tamarind chutney; and puffed puris filled with chickpeas.

Mains include Chickn Tikka Massala, a creamy curry house classic with tandoori chickn pieces and crunchy green peppers; the SpiceBox classic Jackfruit Jalfrezi; and the Brinjal Bhaji, charred smoky aubergine and peas in a rich tomato gravy, and a selection of breads and rice, including a Three Grain Pilau – quinoa, bulgar wheat and pearl barley with tempered cumin seeds and onion – mango chutney and seasonal homemade pickles also on offer.

The Sweet Spice section features the likes of Biscoff and Cardamom Paratha, topped with coconut ice cream, Biscoff cardamom drizzle and a Biscoff crumb; a Banana Chai Doffle, a full dosa waffle topped with chai-spiced grilled banana, chocolate sauce, toasted coconut flakes plus coconut and chocolate ice cream.

No curry house would be complete without big bottles of Cobra beer and SpiceBox will be no different, offering the classic Cobra Lager as well as the 0% non-alcoholic version and an IPA from Walthamstow’s own Wild Card Brewery.
