Mediterranean-inspired bar and restaurant Spelzini (named after founder Jim Fisher’s great grandpa fishmonger and grocer Luigi Spelzini) has opened at Forge & Co in Shoreditch. The all-day menu includes baked eggs with tomatoes and yoghurt and bacon butties with onion relish for breakfast; chickpea flour flatbread pizzas, salads and hot sarnies like croque monsiuer and harissa aubergine available from lunchtime; and cicchetti plates on in the evenings, aperitivo-style. And if you’ve got a sweet tooth, there are cakes from Fortitude Bakehouse and an excellent-sounding salted caramel and negroni reduction ice cream sandwich on offer too.

Fin Spiteri has curated the drinks list, which features vermouth cocktails, organic and natural wines, and Forest Road Brewery beers. If you’re big into vermouth, Spelzini will also be regularly showcasing rare bottles. Pass through on 31st May and you could bag one of 50 FREE hot sarnie & ice cream sarnie combos.
