SPARK YOUR CURIOSITY WITH THE BRITISH ACADEMY SUMMER SHOWCASE

Want to discover the hidden histories of British hip-hop? Fancy taking a virtual tour of the House of Commons chamber? Or learning about how medieval medicine might benefit us today? You can do all this and more, for FREE, at the British Academy Summer Showcase taking place this month. The British Academy is the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences, and the Summer Showcase is their annual festival of ideas, bringing these subjects to life by igniting your curiosity and teaching you a little something too.

The week-long programme features a mix of virtual events and self-guided audio walks hosted by some of the best and brightest minds in their respective fields. You can get involved in the likes of an interactive audio tour at the Actors’ Church in Covent Garden; a talk on light, sleep and mental function; a conversation exploring the art of early modern fortune telling with live demonstrations; a virtual cheese tasting and discussion on the dairy industry; and a soundwalk in Holland Park featuring stories from migrant domestic workers. And as it’s all totally FREE, there’s even more reason to dive on in.
