you work in Marylebone and you’re looking to upgrade your lunch hour, get yourself down to Souli, a new little café-come-takeaway on George Street. With freshly made gourmet sandwiches, salads and cakes, Souli offers a bit of relief from the same boring, old chains.

It’s a chic little joint, with smart wooden floors, copper light fixtures and a huge marble topped counter showing off the day’s lunch offering. The menu includes home-made porchetta, wild rocket and fig chutney sandwich; endive, walnut and poached pear salad with Roquefort dressing; and roast grass-fed beef striploin sandwich with watercress and fresh horseradish cream. The roast beef sandwich in particular was bang on – lovely fresh bread, thinly sliced beef and just the right hit of horseradish. Pret this ain’t!
The real winner at Souli, however, is the amazing selection of gluten-free cakes, teas and coffees. The chocolate cake and red velvet cupcake we tried were both superb, which is great news for everyone, especially gluten-dodgers. Souli is also the only place in London to serve the famed Sant’Eustachio coffee from Rome, which has been roasting prized beans since the 1930s. FACT.

All in all, Souli is a great little addition to Marylebone so check it out if you’re in the ‘hood.
