SONORA TAQUERIA IS HEADING TO ARCADE FOOD HALL FOR ITS NEXT ACT

Sonora Taqueria, run by Michelle Salazar de la Rocha and Sam Napier, was responsible for some of the best tacos in London (and certainly some of the best tortillas too), so we were pretty bummed to hear that it would be shutting up shop in Netil Market. But you can’t keep a good taco down, and the pair are coming back bigger and better with new spin-off concept Mexa, opening at Arcade Food Hall at Centre Point, taking the place of Bebek! Bebek!, which is moving to another part of Arcade, so one trader is leaving but only time will tell who.

Mexa will be both a taco and seafood spot, with the latter coming in the form of ceviche and aguachile. Seabass ceviche will sit on a tostada with mayo, avocado and salsa negra, whilst the prawn aguachile will be served with cucumber, red onion, salsa negra and totopos. The tacos and quesadillas will be made with corn tortillas, coming with the following fillings:

  • Suadero (confit brisket) with coriander and salsa roja
  • Carnitas (confit pork) with pickled onion and salsa verde
  • Nopales (cactus) with caramelised onion and cheese
  • Lamb birria quesadilla
  • Gobernador quesadilla with prawns, cheese and salsa roja

You can toast to Mexa’s launch at one of the taco-filled fiestas on 18th & 25th September, where there’ll be lots of margs, lots of mezcal and lots of live Mariachi music.

Opens Fri 16th September 2022
