LOTI Review | Soleil by Claude is Back at The Peninsula

The sun-soaked pop-up returns for its second summer

Brooklands is The Peninsula hotel’s signature restaurant, with two Michelin stars, a superstar chef in Claude Bosi, and a plum rooftop position with outdoor terrace. However, sunny rooftops and Michelin star tasting menus don’t necessarily go hand in hand, so once again this summer (last year was the inaugural year), the team are pausing Brooklands for two months and switching to Soleil by Claude from 14th July until the 2nd of September.

Eat This

As the name might suggest, this is very much geared towards the summer and long sunny days out on the terrace. It’s out with the tasting menu and in with an a la carte menu of casual Mediterranean dishes. We very much enjoyed two dishes from the raw bar: Blue Fin Tuna, Lime, Star Anise, Sweet & Sour Dressing, and the Summer Tomato Carpaccio with Tarbais Beans and French Shallots.

There’s lots of grilled fish and things like lobster roll which we were very tempted by. Eventually we went for the whole roast chicken, which is served in its roasting pot in an incredible sauce of amalfi lemon and anchovy. Get at least one portion of fries to go with it.

To finish, lemon tart and a warm Madeleine with orange blossom and olive oil ice cream.

Drink This

To drink, there’s a good line up of spritz and summer cocktails, the Peninsula’s own-label champagne, plus a big selection of rosé which is the perfect drink for the setting and the food.

Why Go

With great views, a sun-drenched terrace, and tasty mediterranean fare from Claude Bosi, this is sure to be hot ticket this summer.
