East End may be an obvious place to hang out for Londoners, but not necessarily for the average backpacker, according to HotelClub.com. The accommodation website has just launched a new travel video, Skateseeing East London, which seeks to inspire more visitors to head east, highlighting its status as a travel destination in its own right.

The vid follows a skater as he rides around Shoreditch and Hackney on a typical Sunday afternoon – skating through the hustle and bustle of Brick Lane Market, ollying off the locks at Regent’s Canal, grabbing some flowers at Columbia Road and then winding down with a cuppa in Victoria Park – all to a hypnotic soundtrack provided by underground French trip-hop producer GUTS.

It’s the work of London-based filmmakers Orban Wallace and Ruben Woodin Dechamps of Gallivant Film, who wanted to do justice to an area they love. According to Orban, the team chose skateboards because it “gives the audience the experience of gliding through these spaces, picking up details of the characters and lifestyles along the way.”

Skateseeing East London is the second video the pair has made for HotelClub, the first being Brighton on a Skateboard, with a Sydney installment due to follow soon.

To celebrate, we’re giving away a £100 voucher to spend on an accommodation booking of your choice, anytime, anywhere with HotelClub.com. All you have to do to enter is…answer the following question: taking inspiration from the video, which city would you most like to cruise around, on what form of transport, and to what soundtrack? For example, Hunstanton, on a tauntaun, listening to Napalm Death.

Send your answer via email to ben@londontheinside.com with ‘SKATESEEING LDN’ in the subject line. This comp is for 18+ readers only and will close on Monday 3rd March 2014 at noon. Good luck kids!
