4TH MAY 2015, WEIRD WORLD

Hookworms may be dubbed a noise/psych band, but after first listen of new single Retreat, you’ll be rushing forward to embrace a sound that has elements, but also measures it out with joyous pop and rock. It’s not droney, loopy (in any sense) or dull. It kicks the 70’s garage rock doors open, loads up on organ lines, riffage, feedback and fuzz, and heads out on the open road. As a closer to second album Hum, it’s a Thelma and Louise, pedal down drive into the unknown.

We reckon the only way to hear it would be as LOUD as humanly possible at one of their celebrated gigs. Hookworms have great visuals, a ton of creativity (what with side projects such as Cowtown, and remixing Ghostpoet taking up their time) and cleared up late visa problems aside (bad home office), will be touring the big ‘ol U S of A soon.
