Hackney’s Silver Lining, sister restaurant to bar Every Cloud next door, relaunched as the UK’s first orange wine bar inspired by the pre-lockdown Orange Wednesdays that founders Alastair and Sarah Maddox were running. It started as a takeaway operation selling over 30 varieties of orange wine, bottled cocktails from Every Cloud (including their MarTiny), coffee and pastries.
Previously open for drinks from a fully orange wine list, you can now sit in and eat with a seasonal small plates menu including the likes of white asparagus with garlic aioli, anchovies with orange zest, white beans in olive oil and duck rillettes with cornichons. You typically only see one or two orange bottles on most wine lists so if you’re into skin-contact wine, this is the place to go.
