YOU COULD BOOK AT STAY AT SHREK’S SWAMP THIS HALLOWEEN

Donkey’s getting into subletting, apparently

Airbnb has announced that it’s added Shrek’s Swamp to its catalogue of short-term lets and you can book yourself in for a two-night stay this autumn. The listing, which will go live on 13th October, is ‘hosted by Donkey’ who’s renting out his pal Shrek’s place while swamp-sitting, according to Airbnb’s PR lore.

The replica of Shrek’s Swamp (which is pretty impressive looking) is located in the Scottish Highlands on the Ardverikie Estate. The fairytale house is described by Donkey as “a stumpy, secluded haven fit for a solitude-seeking ogre”, and comes with all the furnishings you’ll remember from the movies – including earwax candles, Shrek’s outhouse and signs warning to “BEWARE OGRE”. On successfully booking the Swamp, guests will get a two-night stay, which they can share with two friends, complete with a stack of freshly made waffles for breakfast.

You can have a go at booking Shrek’s Swamp from 6pm BST on 13th October, but you’ll have to act fast as the stay is FREE (though you’ll have to cover your own travel to Scotland), so there’ll be a lot of competition. Aside from quick reaction times, guests will need to have an active Airbnb profile with a good track record to book. Full terms and conditions are available to view on the Airbnb website.

Cancel that hotel; if you’ve got a trip to Scotland coming up, there’s only one place to stay.
