Housing and homelessness charity Shelter is on a mission to get us all shopping sustainably by getting us to donate more of our unwanted clothes – you can’t shop secondhand and support the circular economy if people aren’t giving away their old clothes can ya? With the Shelter Preloved Donation Pledge, the charity is encouraging people to commit to both donating unused items and buying preloved at regular intervals throughout the year.
The pledge is launching with donations from fashion influencers, including Caroline Jones and Jasmine Botchey, at Shelter Boutique in Coal Drops Yard, and a shopping event where you’ll be able to donate your own unwanted items and shop from a mixture of vintage and designer threads, with gems like a pair of Alexander McQueen jeans and a vintage 90’s Adidas jacket on the rails. All the profits will go to Shelter, meaning you’ll be helping the fight against homelessness just by doing a spot of shopping.
