The Shanghai Supper Club will be back this month for an evening of authentic Shanghainese food at The Royal Oak in Marylebone. As usual, the menu will feature dishes that showcase food that chef Lillian Luk’s grandmother would cook at home and will be served at a communal table for guests to share – just like you’re at a friend’s dinner party. This time round, expect the likes of vegan duck tofu rolls, drunken chicken, xunyu “smoked” fish steak, spinach & tofu salad, sheng jian bao, red braised pork belly, whole fish with mustard leaves, onion oil noodles and qingtuan with red bean paste for dessert (though ingredients may differ slightly depending on what’s available at the time of shopping).
