It’s no secret that some of London’s best bars are located in hotels, the Artesian bar being one of them. Situated in The Langham hotel, Artesian has got quite the rep for its cocktails around the world with plenty of awards to prove it, including ranking in the World’s 50 Best Bars. Most recently the Artesian has welcomed Lorenza Pezzetta as its new bar manager, who has plenty of experience in the luxury hospitality field having previously worked at Annabels, The Berkeley and The Connaught Bar. And with a new manager, comes a new menu…
The latest cocktail menu is named Connections, as it’s inspired by those experiences that have brought us together as a nation over the past year. It is split into five sections focusing on these experiences – ‘Wellness & Mindfulness’, ‘Celebrations’, ‘Community’, ’Sustainability’ and ‘Happiness’, with cocktails suitably themed around them. There’s something for everyone, including lower ABV drinks, champagne cocktails and seasonal ingredient sustainable cocktails.
We tried four of the cocktails on the menu, our favourites being the Banana Bread 1933, which is a twist on an old-fashioned and combines Woodford Rye Whisky, Oloroso sherry, homemade banana bread syrup and Discarded Banana Rum. But if sweet cocktails are your thing we’d suggest trying the Cherry on Top, which can either be alcoholic or non alcoholic and mixes Grey Goose Vodka, cherry pistachio cordial, Olorosso sherry topped with champagne and served with a moriesh baked garnish.
We also ordered some small dishes from the Artesian bar menu to accompany our cocktails, including the Cornish Crab on toast, the crispy soul role (a guaranteed winner) and the sesame crackers which be warned, will cause quite a mess on the table so avoid if you’re on a first date. Given it’s based in the luxe Langham hotel we would say the Artesian bar is the ideal spot if you’re looking to raise a glass or two for a celebratory occasion or simply just fancy treating yourself to some world-class cocktails – cheers to that!
