SEAFOOD INSTITUTION SCOTT’S IS HEADING FOR THE RIVER

It’s one of the oldest restaurants in London, the go-to seafood spot for many an A-lister, and reportedly where Ian Fleming got the idea for James Bond’s tipple of choice to be the ‘shaken, not stirred’ martini, so to say Scott’s is an institution might be a bit of an understatement. Now Richard Caring is adding a new chapter to the restaurant’s history by opening a second branch down by the river in Richmond.

The two-floor site will feature a large terrace; a dining room and an oyster bar serving shellfish, wine and champagne on the ground floor; and a bar hosting weekly DJ sets upstairs. The menu will be broadly similar to the original – if it ain’t broke right? – so you can expect plenty of fruits de mer platters, lobster and whole fish dishes, there’ll be new plates like:

  • apple smoked salmon with pickled cucumber & brioche
  • baked spiced crab with garlic & herb toast
  • shrimp burger with kimchi ketchup & crisps

With polished parquet floors, chandeliers, silver platters and waistcoated staff, you can bet that the new Scott’s is going to be just as smart an affair too, and it doesn’t get much better than eating seafood right by the water.
