A slice of Spain is coming to Dalston as plancha bar Screwdriver opens on Ridley Road, taking over the spot where Lucky Chip Burgers & Wine used to live. Run by brothers Alexis and Emmanuel Ross, who’ve had management roles at the likes of Zetter Townhouse, Polpo, and The Ned, Screwdriver is inspired by the tapas and pintxos bars of Galicia and the Basque country, with dishes like anchovies on toast, whipped cod’s roe, asparagus with burrata and grilled gernika peppers on the menu. And you’ll be able to wash all those small plates down with young wines, craft beers and cocktails. Screwdriver is all about fresh, simple food, great service and a relaxed atmosphere, so it should slot in well to this part of Dalston.
