seems like everyone is going crazy for the humble scotch egg of late, so it makes sense that The Ship Wandsworth will yet again host a ‘Scotch Egg Challenge’. The event which takes place on the 25th September will see 20 competitors take to the kitchens with the aim of elevating the humble bar snack to new heights! Events will include a cook-off and a blind tasting test in the aim of finding the nation’s favourite Scotch Egg. Think duck, goose, quail, truffle-oil injected and beetroot-infused eggs; wrapped in everything from the standard sausage to venison, spicy chorizo, black pudding, mushroom and even kangaroo.

Confirmed contenders including Heston Blumenthal’s The Hinds Head Pub in Bray, the newly opened Thatched House in Hammersmith (and if our recent meal was anything to go by these guys will kick ass!) and Scotch egg street food legend ‘Egg Boss’. What’s more the event is free to attend, with a big screen showcasing all of the drama from the cook off kitchen and demonstrations taking place throughout the day on how to make the classic 1738 style Scotch egg courtesy of the original inventors themselves Fortnum & Mason.

Each competitor will be cooking enough eggs so that the crowd can have a try and if your still hungry there will be a BBQ held at the The Ship’s to finish off the days events.
