SARAP BAON OPENS IN BRIXTON VILLAGE

After opening Sarap in Brixton Village in February and then subsequently having to close it thanks to the pandemic, Budgie Montoya has reworked his concept and re-opened again with Sarap BAon. Taking inspo from the mall food halls of the Philippines, Sarap BAon is all about quick and accessible Filipino food. The menu features Budgie’s signature lechon – slow roasted pork belly stuffed with lemongrass, chilli, garlic & ginger, served with lechon liver sauce & coconut vinegar – alongside rice bowls with toppings like fried chicken & sour sinigang soup, beef longgansia with fried egg & cucumber relish, and celeriac kare kare with peanut sauce & pickled green beans.

There’ll also be a selection of small plates like BBQ pork skewers, sisig scotch quail egg, Sarap wings and dynamite spring rolls, plus low-intervention wines and Filipino beers. You can get all this for delivery or to takeaway but there will be eight counter seats inside and a handful outside if you do fancy a sit down.
