Santa Maria is known for slinging some of the best pizzas in London and the group has been expanding over the last few years, rejigging their original Ealing site (which is now becoming a totally vegan pizzeria with the OG Santa Maria moving to a different spot in the area) and spreading into Central London with a site in Fitzrovia. Now the team are heading north and opening on Upper Street, taking over the old Baba-Boom site.
Details for the Islington pizzeria are thin on the ground at the moment but we’re not expecting it to be too different from the other Santa Maria restaurants, meaning authentic Neapolitan pizzas like the San Gennaro (tomato sauce, mozzarella, anchovies, black olives, capers & oregano), the Santa Caterina (tomato sauce, mozzarella, salame Napoli, fresh chilli & parmesan), the Santa Valentina (pumpkin cream, smoked mozzarella, Yorkshire pork sausage & nduja) and the San Mattia (buffalo mozzarella DOP, mushrooms, truffle oil & parmesan shavings).
