Flexi-working life – spending half the time over a laptop at the kitchen table and the other half lugging gear into the office – has started to take its toll on the old back and shoulders, so we went in to have our aching muscles soothed.
The spa is inside the Royal Garden Hotel, which is actually closed until 2022 so it’s not the easiest place to find – you have to take a lift down to the health club from the street and it’s tucked away in an unassuming corner. However, once you’re inside it does feel a world away from where you’ve just descended and the staff are super welcoming and ready to help you zen out.
We had the ELEMIS Freestyle Deep Tissue massage, which is a full body treatment. We asked for firm pressure from the therapist and we certainly got it, receiving a thorough going over from slapping the soles of the feet right up to massaging the head and all the other bits in between. It was just the right blend of relaxing, helped by the ELEMIS aromatic oils, and functional, working out all the knots, so we left feeling lovely and unwound.
