on Curtain Road in Shoreditch, Jones and Payne have been cutting the mops of East London since 2006 and more recently the ‘dos of Covent Garden. The salon itself is set over two floors and has a slightly vintage look with exposed brick work, sofas and chandeliers.

We checked in with Senior Stylist Gemma for a trim, tidy and blow dry. The first thing we noticed was how unpretentious and welcoming the salon was – something which is lost on the newer hair salons in the area. After a quick consultation with recommendations, tea and a brownie bite (we like!) we were led downstairs for a wash and massage.

Then it was on to the snipping and trimming, including some serious sorting out of our current bangs. We were then rough dried, as requested, with a bit of va va voom and on our way. For a decent chop in Shoreditch at a well established salon, with quite the rep Jones and Payne is a safe choice.
