SALON SPY | FIRE & ICE FACIAL AT YOUNG LDN

It’s been a hot summer so far, one that’s not been short on fire and has left us needing ice (cubes, creams, cold air con, the lot). Young LDN, the cool Notting Hill salon that champions youth (the state of mind that is, age is just a number), is showcasing a different kind of fire and ice at its aesthetic lab. The Fire & Ice Facial is designed to rapidly resurface the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and encourage cellular renewal, and given that our face has been subjected to alternating rounds of sun cream and sweat lately, we were more than in need of some TLC.

The treatment is done using iS Clinical products, which are all scientifically formulated with pharmaceutical grade ingredients. First comes the fire in the form of a resurfacing glycolic acid masque – everybody is different but for us there was only a gentle tingle rather than full-on heat – and then once that’s been removed, it’s time for the ice, which is a hyaluronic acid and multivitamin masque with menthol for extra cooling action. The therapist then went in with a thorough facial massage to work in the products and followed it with yellow LED light therapy to reduce any inflammation and stimulate collagen production. The facial is finished off with serum, moisturiser, eye cream and one last blast of ice as they were massaged in using cryo balls, which were properly cold and just what you would want rolled around your face on a hot day.

Not only was the facial relaxing, the fire and ice combo gave our skin the boost we really needed, leaving us ready to go fresh-faced for the rest of the summer. And that’s not all Young LDN can do to your skin; they have a whole range of treatments on offer in the aesthetics lab and express ones upstairs at the facial bar if you’re short on time.
