Roti King Is Bringing Roti Canai to Waterloo

Just ahead of its tenth birthday in 2024, Roti King is opening a third London site this winter

The roti canai at Roti King has become legendary – rightly so – and now there are going to be more places for Londoners to get their hands on it as founder Sugen Gopal is opening a third site in Waterloo. As with the original Euston location and the branch at Battersea Power Station, the roti canai will be made fresh every day, with all the roti-making action on show in the open kitchen.

It’ll be available with four different kari options – chicken, mutton, dhal and fish – alongside a variety of stuffed roti murtabak, plus classic Malaysian dishes like:

  • beef rendang with coconut rice
  • nasi lemak
  • char kuey teow – stir-fried flat rice noodles with egg, prawns and chicken
  • kari laksa with seafood and tofu in a coconut broth
  • pulled shiitake rendang
  • filled sweet roti with fillings like kaya (coconut jam), planta (condensed milk) and pisang (banana)

South Asian beers, canned wines and Moth cocktails will round out the offering, and just as with the other Roti King restaurants, it’s walk-ins only – although, with room for 50 in Waterloo, you hopefully won’t have to queue for too long.

Opens Fri 1st December 2023
97 Lower Marsh, London, SE1 7AB
