roe to open in pop brixton

He’s already nailed seafood over in Camden with Hook and now Simon Whiteside is heading south to open his first solo restaurant, Roe, at Pop Brixton. The shipping container space will seat 32, with an outside terrace, and the menu will be all about celebrating sustainable British and Irish seafood.

You can expect the dishes to change regularly but Roe will start out serving the likes of grey mullet poitin ceviche with cucumber and lime; cuttlefish and ink arancini; ray wing with jerusalem artichoke and wild mushrooms; confit sea trout with sea greens and an oyster and sorrel emulsion; and sea salt and brown butter blondies with pistachio clotted cream.

That sustainable ethos continues through to the drinks list, so as well as a small selection of beers and wine, cocktails like honey and pear margaritas and G & Teas will be made using booze from the Sustainable Spirit Co. And you’ll be able make ressies for this one too, with the terrace left for walk-ins.

Opens Tues 13th November 2018
