Rio Cinema in Dalston is legendary. Not only for it’s unmistakable iconic art deco design housed smack bang in the middle of Kingsland High Street, but also for it’s diverse range of screenings showing movies old and new, catering for everyone from toddlers to seniors.

The old style theatre is a pretty comfy one with plenty of leg room, in your face Odeon! There’s also toilets either side of the screen…convenient. The foyer bar serves popcorn, snacks, juices and a range of beers and cider for you to take in and devour during the movie.

And, the Rio Cinema is actually a registered charity, following an extensive programme of school screenings and providing affordable access to cinema for older people, children and community groups. How about that. To continue to be able to do this they rely on the kindness of people and there are a number of ways you could contribute. You could sign up and become a friend and benefit from some great deals, or you could make a donation, more info on that here.

With special events, late showings, Sunday matinees, children’s movies, parent and babies films and their classic matinee screenings Rio Cinema has always been pretty damn hipster. See what’s on at Rio this week.
